Introduction
Norway has been on the bucket list for many years. The opportunity presented itself to do the trip with our furry babies and the decision was made; our minds made up - let’s do it!
We planned the 13,000km trip, prepared and packed our camper van “Isabel”, loaded Rafa and Gandhi, plus the mobile office, and off we went. The long journey North has begun.
We feel grateful and blessed that we get to this, and share our #vanlife adventure through Europe and Scandinavia over the next 7 weeks. Come ride along our camper road trip through Norway.

Rovaniemi, Finland to Hannover, Germany
Route This Week

Total Route So Far

Going into week five, the weather really starting turning against us. Santa Claus Holiday Village just outside Rovaniemi was the first stop and one of the highlights despite the freezing temperatures.
We spent the night in a chalet in the village and the extra space was very welcome. The next morning we left the Arctic Circle and headed further South through Lapland.
As the weather deteriorated we decided to amend the initial itinerary and go as far South as possible the next few days to get away from it. We left Finland and entered Sweden. The forecast wasn’t good for Skelleftea and we had to endure the cold weather for one more night, at least.
The next morning we headed to Sundsvall and battled strong side winds and heavy downpours for most of the day - not an easy drive. By that time we decided to book an Airbnb farm-stay for the night to get out of the cold and get some laundry done.

As we travelled further South towards Stockholm the weather started to clear and we had a pleasant evening in a pine forest near Norrkoping South of Stockholm. At this stage we were back into the low double digits temperature wise.
From here we travelled in the direction of Denmark and setup camp near Malmo on the Swedish border; just before crossing the long bridge and tunnel to Copenhagen. We were exhausted and stayed an extra day...
Monday we left Sweden, drove through Denmark towards Rodby for the 45min ferry trip to Germany. As we travelled further South we were very happy as the temperatures starting rising, even into the low twenties at some stage late afternoon.
We ended the week at the amazing Campingpark Südheide near Hanover feeling good about the extra days we made up along the way. We were looking forward to relax a few days together without traveling, before saying goodbye to Kim & Erwin after a spectacular and unforgettable road trip together with them.
